A Single Figure Skater
“In skating over thin ice, our safety is in our speed.”
– Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803 – 1882)
A single figure skater, elegant and fair
Owns all the attention. She glides with much flair,
The rink is her stage, the people her cast,
Bringing pin-drop silence, their faces aghast.
The rink, a hushed canvas, her blades' soliloquy,
Try to capture beauty, but there's too much to see,
She leaps, she floats, and lands noiselessly,
This grace a symphony, pure ecstasy.
For in the rink, she dictates,
A poet of motion, who only creates,
The pristine screen, a canvas of dreams,
In the realm of ice, where her grace redeems.
In her quest for perfection, with relentless desire,
Each routine, she ignites like a fire.
Sacrifices made, her heart's every plea,
For grace and precision, she's earned her liberty.
The babies fell silent, their parents in awe,
The children entranced like all who saw,
The coaches are shocked, a tiny figure skater,
She's tiny, so small! But when she steps into the rink, she's greater than them all.
